Does any of this sound like you?

If so, you're in the right place!

You want to create a safe classroom community that helps students feel motivated & engaged while also learning to self advocate & take risks.

The only problem is...

  • Math PD doesn’t focus on building our math classroom communities.
  • You don’t know how to fit it all in.
  • You’re not even sure where to begin.
"This approach to engaging students in mathematics and helping them identify as a mathematicians is very powerful. I can't wait to use these ideas with my classes."

You wish someone would just give you a guide to creating a math class where students are actually engaged & excited to participate and learn.

Why I created this guide...

Hey Friend, I’m Mona, a teacher & instructional coach. For the last 14 years taught grades 1st – 6th in Chicago.

My real passion for teaching came when I discovered how to help students be
leaders of their own learning through creating safe classroom communities that helped students feel motivated & engaged while also learning to self advocate & take risks. What happened was my students learned more than I ever thought possible– about themselves and the math content!

Now, I help teachers build a community in math that allows for students to fully engage in math content and build a positive math identity.

I grew up believing I wasn’t a math person and I started teaching without a passion for math. I didn’t truly fall in love with teaching math until I learned to build a community of mathematicians, just like I built a community of readers and writers.

That’s what I’ll will support you in creating!

"Building a routine around the math norms I think could be a game changer for me, it will build that culture of trying and growing. Like we talked about in our chat, I hope that by starting with grapple time in math that the skills they develop can bleed into other subjects."
